Strength Training and Weight Gain
When strength and weight gain are in the same sentence then we must assume that we are all on the same page and talking about good quality muscle gain when we talk about weight gain. Gaining fat is easy just eat junk food and you will get fat there is no doubt about it.
Many guys who join a gym to put on muscle start off with the focus on muscle gain and not strength gain. This can be counter-productive because you need to get strong in order to get your body to the point where it is able to carry more muscle.
If you start off with the correct mind-set of getting stronger and not just putting on muscle you will see faster results. Gaining muscle is all about progressive resistance and the only way that you are going to get stronger is by slowly and progressively lifting more and more weight.
It goes without saying that the correct form or technique you use to lift the weight is a vitally important factor. Not only in avoiding injuries but also to get the maximum results and use the focus that is required to get the gains that you seek.
If you start out with the attitude of gaining strength you will be able to select the exercises and sets and reps that will get you an increase in strength generally and not just an increase in muscle. You will find that as you get stronger and more resilient and able to recuperate from your work-outs your strength will increase all over your body.
Doing isolated exercises like curls or triceps extensions will not get you stronger. The only way that you are going to get stronger is by doing compound exercises on a regular basis. Compound exercises are exactly what they say they are as they use more than one body-part to lift the weight.
In order to get stronger you need to go back to the basics and that does not mean using any fancy machinery it means using the good old free weights. Using free weights will get you stronger all over your body and will increase your inner core strength which will enable you to continue to progress.
There are countless ways that you can choose from when selecting a schedule or routine that suits you're commitments that you have and the time you spend training. It must be said that without adhering to a decent eating program you will be wasting your time.
The reason is that in order for your body to recover from the intense work-outs that you are doing you need to make sure that you are getting the good quality protein required at least four times a day. Sleeping 8 hours a night and drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day will also help a lot.
